Katherine S. Cole

about the author

I am a storyteller.

Whether hearing, reading, or learning to create, stories filled my childhood and have helped to shape the way I view and understand the world. Eventually stories led me to medicine, and I am currently a fellow, completely my final two years of training. Out of respect for my program and my patients, I chose a pen name – Katherine, the name I blogged under for 15 years, and Cole, after the family who first told me stories and encouraged me to write down my own.
While, ironically, given the above, medicine has taken a good deal of my time for stories in any form other than the living, breathing, needing-medical-attention-immediately kind, I continue to write and edit and think in stories. After all, to misquote Eric Liddell, “I believe God made me for a purpose, but He also made me a writer. And when I write, I feel His pleasure.”
