If you have been following my writing for any length of time, you know it doesn’t really go in order to plan. I could be doing a final edit on A Gold-Starred Crown, a modern YA retelling of the ballad of Tam Lin, only to have a random space-western novella appear out of nowhere and beat GSC to the finish-line by months.
THAT SAID.
A Gold-Starred Crown really is very close to being finished. My current goal would be publication by October 2022. This is subject to the demands of my new job (there is a national conference this fall & if I am presenting at it, the final edits could get pushed back a little more or a lot more), but it is a definite possibility.
Contract to Time Travel, stand-alone (maybe with 2 future sequels…) novel with time travel & winged assassins, has about three scenes that have been giving me trouble. Once I figure out the pieces there and re-write them to my satisfaction, the rest remains solid & will be ready for the next round of detail editing.
Across This Spiral Galaxy is what I’m primarily writing now…other stories I have mentioned in the past are still in my brain, but less actively being written. So far this series includes the following:
Sacrifice of Seven – available for purchase July 1.
Wake Not The Dreamer – Sleeping Beauty + Joseph the Dreamer (She’s been cryo-frozen for 1000 years because her dreams tell the future…he can interpret her dreams.)
Inside My Mind – partially gender-swapped Phantom of the Opera + Batfam (think…vigilante family where Madame Giry’s daughter is accidentally dating an assassin’s brother and Raoul is a neurosurgeon trying to find his high school sweetheart.)
The Things They Cannot See (gender-swapped Cupid/Psyche with a lot of Pied Piper influence. He’s a reporter; she can’t let him see her face because Reasons..but she might have to invoke the ancient marriage-for-pardon rite just to save his life.)
The Medusa Maze (Rapunzel + Medusa + Midas + Rumpelstiltskin…there’s a lot happening in this story.)
Before the Stars Go Dark (Another Tam Lin retelling where the Janet-inspired character’s mother is a general, her step-father is a king, and she’s a space pilot off to find out the truth behind the rumors threatening their kingdom.)
Forever Hold Your Peace (genderswapped Little Mermaid + Batfam: he makes a deal with the devil and ends up undercover in a house where he discovers a whole lot more than he was anticipating.)
The Wolf-Star Rises (Red-Riding Hood/Batfam story directly linked to Forever Hold Your Peace. The Wolves appear randomly throughout my other stories, including Sacrifice of Seven, but this is a story about them.)
So. Currently plan is to finish A Gold-Starred Crown, and then work between Contract to Time Travel, Forever Hold Your Peace, and The Wolf-Star Rises until one of those three is ready to publish. Again, it could all be different next month, but here’s hoping it is not. And of course, watch here or my instagram account for snippets, updates, and new plans. 🙂
